Michael A. Safdi, M.D., FACP, FACG



Dr. Michael Safdi performed his undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Safdi was elected to the premedical honor society at Johns Hopkins University and then traveled to the University of Cincinnati Medical School where he completed his medical degree and was elected to the AOA Medical Honor Society in his third year. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of California at San Diego and spent ten months at Scripps Clinic & Research Foundation for further clinical training. Dr. Safdi is Fellow of the American College of Physicians and of the American College of Gastroenterology.

Dr. Safdi served two terms on the Board of Trustees and five terms as Governor for the Southern Ohio Region for the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). He also served as a Regional Counselor for the ACG. Dr. For five years he acted as the Gastroenterology Representative on the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee for the State of Ohio and served on the Executive Committee of Jewish Hospital.

 

Dr. Safdi currently represents the ACG on a national committee trying to unify all internal medical specialties regarding reimbursement issues. With Dr. Mark Jonas, Dr. Safdi is a co-director of Gastroenterology for Resident Education at Jewish Hospital. He also serves as a Surveyor for the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).

 

Dr. Safdi has an interest in all clinical research with a special emphasis in peptic ulcer disease, GERD, inflammatory bowel disease, colon cancer and colon polyps. Dr Safdi has published over 30 peer reviewed articles on various topics. In 1996, he received a Distinguished Leadership Award from the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. Dr. Safdi is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and in Gastroenterology.
