Gastric Cancer

Gastric Cancer is usually adenocarcinoma, although lymphoma's are also seen. The symptoms are abdominal pain, weight loss, anorexia, weakness, gastrointestinal bleeding and signs of gastric obstruction such as early satiety and vomiting.

Unfortunately these symptoms do not usually present until the tumor is advanced. Gastric lymphoma responds well to radiation and chemotherapy and if confined to the stomach, surgical removal is indicated. Patients with gastric adenocarcinoma have a poor prognosis and surgery may provide palliative rather than curative relief.
